I have to thank my friend Suzie for the ticket. It's an early Christmas present.   What a good show. I'd seen the original Hitchcock film and thought it was good. However, there was no humour in that film whereas there is humour in the film. It works. 4 performers and 2 of them making all these zany costume changes. The Umbilical Brothers are staring in this production but on Saturday we saw their understudies. Lib Campbell and Berynn Schwerdt didn't miss a beat. It got me wondering, do the understudies study every character or does each character have its own understudy. It also got me wondering about all the suburban theatre l see. Do they use understudies too. It's understandable. Anyone can wake up in the morning feeling awful and not be able to perform. If any of you looking at this post have worked in theatre let me know. I read, mainly listen to, crime fiction. It's the genre l like the most and there's plenty of authors,  and books, to choose from.   I recently found a new author Nadine Matheson and wrote a post about her book The Jigsaw Man. I'm also planning to read her next 2 books. Now l have said before that l don't drive and take public transport.  I also have bad hearing and use hearing aides.  My phone is connected to my aides so l listen to more audiobooks than read these days. I've just finished The Hallowed Man and it was so good. I love this series and think each book is 5 out of 5 stars. For anyone who doesn't know the Strike series can l suggest you start with The Cuckoos Calling. It won't disappoint. So l needed another audiobook to listen to. That's when l saw the new J.D Robb book. I have such an ambivalent attitude to J.D. Robb books as l feel the last few weren't as good.  So l decided not read anymore. So what am l listening to now?  The new J.D....

We are up to Sonnet 15 this week and there has been a change.  Shakespeare was such a good writer and his sonnets are good too. Do you read the sonnets? Do you like Shakespeare? The poems in particular are still relevant. I see things that have the themes of these plays.  He truly is immortal.

I went to  The Mc Clelland Gallery on the weekend and heard a style of music l had never heard before.   It was so interesting and the instruments so unusual.  All the performers were so talented and they played so well together.  I like seeing new and different things.  We are so lucky here in the suburbs of Melbourne to see these interesting shows.  I've been able to see some many interesting and enjoyable shows so far this year and there's more to come. Nearly all of it in the suburbs.  How lucky am l. Thank you to Unholy Racketts & Ensemble 642 for coming out into the suburbs. 

This book was a lucky find. I was only filling in time and only planned to read a few pages. It got me hooked  I'm so thankful for public libraries.  Now l have a new author to read.

 Back with a poem by English poet A E Houseman. This poem was a part of a cycle of 63 poems. All of them have an air of pessimism about them which is interesting in itself. See if you can hear it as l read the poem. Let me know if you like poetry.

On Friday l went to The Johnson Collection.  This is a private museum. It was an interesting collection all about regency gentlemen, like a taste of the Bridgerton world. Mr Johnson was an avid collector of items large and small from the 1700/18000 time period.  Every  day items that we were free to look at closely. This is an exhibition of a world of money and leisure.  While concentrating mainly on English items he also bought items from India and Venice from the same time period.  Lots of silver                                                           And china; lots of china.  This was like no other museum I've ever been to.  The Johnson Collection also has lectures and events.
