This was a real treat.  I went and saw Big Live's production of Dracula. I wasn't sure if this story could be made into a ballet. Earlier in the year l saw Big Live do The Great Gatsby and thought it was brilliant. This show was very different to the first show l saw, but, it was brilliant. The production on these shows is so high, the dancing so good, the costuming stunning. I would give it  5 out of 5 stars. The principal dancers are Ervin Zagidullin and Abbey Hansen. I hope you can read all about them. I'm sorry the photos aren't completely clear. We saw both of them perform on the day we were there and they are both so good. Abbey Hansen is actually an Australian Ballet Dancer. The favourite pieces of music included in this ballet were Clair de Lune and Danse Macabre with Cello. That added even more joy for me. This ballet was for my sisters birthday  It was her choice. We couldn't fault the dancing. There was not one missed step. The costuming was good too. The only thing neither of us liked was the story itself. We both agreed that having seen it once we won't see it again. Have any of you seen this ballet? Did you like it? The Victorian Ballet stage high quality shows. We saw this one at The Drum in Dandenong. If you get a chance to see this company dance it is well worth it.

Big Live are coming to Melbourne again.  And l can't wait. This is a treat for me. I mainly stick to the suburbs of Melbourne where suburban arts are high quality. Big Live do ballet productions differently. Earlier in the year l saw them do The Great Gatsby. It was so good and, although l can't imagine Dracula as a ballet, l expect this production will be just as good. I love ballet and think a new ballet company is all good. He is my favourite composer.  Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky 1840-1893. Ballets, concerto, symphonies and more. I consider this man to be a musical genius. As with many his talent was recognised early. He worked lowly jobs to support himself before a patroness allowed him to concentrate on his music. The very next year he wrote Swan Lake. The music lives on because of his genius.

I like ballet.  I'm talking about Georgian ballet today and, if you haven't seen it can l suggest that you do. High energy, wonderful dancing and a style of ballet that has a rich history. Check it out yourself.

Ballet reimagined  Yesterday l saw a great show. I saw The Great Gatsby Ballet. Put on by Big Live this is ballet and theatre together. It really was such a treat. This is the first Big Live production l've seen and will be seeing their next production Dracula in October. The whole production was good and to a high standard. I love ballet and am so pleased to have a new ballet to watch. Have you seen any of Big Lives productions before? If they are coming to where you live it is well worth seeing a show. I love ballet. Love everything about it. The dancing, the costumes, the little girls coming in dressed in their own ballet outfits. Just love it. I have seen The Nutcracker before, but, l never tire of it. This ballet is a classic. Victorian ballet are our state ballet company and tour in the suburbs and country areas. They are so good and gracefully come out after every performance in full costume for photos. Look at the end of the video and you will see the photo l took. I'm missing ballet and this is from one of my favourites; The Nutcracker I think Tchaikovsky was a musical genius.

I love ballet but will only be seeing one or two this year. Georgian Ballet is like no other. I'm not that keen on the music but, oh my, the dancing. It is colour, it is movement, it is energy. The National company is called Sukhishvili and l have my fingers and toes crossed that one day they will tour in Australia.

  What a triumph. I love ballet and l love this ballet. Apart from one slight passage of a couple dancing out of time, and it didn't last long, this production was so good. The sets were stunning, the dancing sublime and the music soared. Odette was danced by Amber Scott and Prince Siegfried was danced by Callum Linnane. Jarryd Madden as von Rothbart was good-heartedly booed at the end. This production was performed by The Australian Ballet. I don't think l will ever tire of seeing a corps de ballet moving as one across a stage. It was the final ballet for this season and they saved the best 'til last. Tchaikovsky wrote the music for ballet and with the original choreography by Julius Reisinger it is an enduring  classic. Tchaikovsky had an unhappy life but l for one am so thankful for the beautiful  music he left the world. What a treat. The Tokyo Ballet dancing Giselle. On a cold and wet Melbourne day we were treated to a wonderful display of dancing.  I love ballet and this was number 4 of 5 ballets l will see this year. This year is the 60th anniversary of the Australian Ballet Company and this performance was hosted by The Australian Ballet Company.  The standard of dancing was high. The Tokyo Ballet Company is being run by people who have danced, and been involved, with The Bolshoi Ballet and it shows.  This ballet has only a few more performances and l highly recommend seeing it.   What a treat for the senses. A 3 act ballet with 3 different composers and 3 different schools of ballet . Jewels is a creation of ballet by George Balanchine who got his inspiration from the jewellery stores in New York. The first act is a French romance. Beautiful green costuming, beautiful ballet all set to the music of Gabriel Faure. The performers seemed to float across the stage in a dreamlike state. The second act saw the dancers in bright red costumes. This is the jazz age in New York. A different style of dancing set to the music of Igor Stravinsky. There is vigour in the movements and an energy to the dancing. The third act saw the dancers in traditional tutus and a hum of approval arose from the near sell out crowd as the curtain rose and we saw the Corps de Ballet standing on stage. Beautiful dancing set to the wonderful music of Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.  What a treat and, next The Tokyo Ballet dancing Giselle. I love ballet www.australianballet.com.au

  What a performance. Don Quixote staged in the 60th year of The Australian Ballet. Using Rudolf Nureyev's choreography the dancing was sublime, the story enchanting and a wonderful live orchestra. What a day. Lead dancers were Yummi Yamada and Brett Chynoweth with Simon Dow playing Don Quixote. All performers were so good and l love seeing the ballet de corps in any production. The Arts Centre was full and we all enjoyed the performance. I love seeing the arts up and thriving again. My all time love is musical theatre but ballet runs a very close second. This production was the first of 5 that l will be seeing this year. My best friend gave me this gift for Christmas.   This was the second half of a wonderful weekend.  I love ballet and no matter how many times l see Swan Lake l still love it. It was another full house on Sunday and the ballet was performed by the Victorian State Ballet. It was wonderful. Tchaikovsky's music soared and the dancing melded to it. The costumes and everything came together seamlessly.   Great news. The Australian Ballet 2021 season is now on sale. So many wonderful ballets to choose; from Anna Karenina to New York Dialects.  The 2020 season was nearly all cancelled so l think tickets for 2021 season will sell fast. Here in Melbourne we have outbreaks of Covid19 in several different  areas. People are advised not to travel to or from these areas and the relaxing of more sanctions today are now on hold. So much of the world is grappling with this virus. My heart goes out to all those who are sick and it's a  tragedy that so many have been lost.  Whole sectors of business are on hold, and, me desperately missing the arts does not compare. I do miss it though. That got me thinking. I want to see ballet and will see ballet. For the next few weeks  l am going to be posting ballet from all around the world. And I'm going to put my money where my mouth is and donate to more companies. Not huge amounts, l can't afford that. What l can do is give small amounts with thanks. I would be paying to  see them in person and l want them to continue.  So this is what l will do.
