Brisbane

In the age of Covid travel is a dream, even within the country of Australia. I love seeing photography exhibitions, but they're not running now either. So online it must be. I live in Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria. Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland. Type in the link below and enjoy historical photos of Brisbane. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-02-04/historical-photos-of-brisbane-digitised/13089956?nw=0

THE DIG starring Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes | Official Trailer | N...

I saw an interesting film on Netflix today.  It's called The Dig and it's based on the real life story of the discovery of the Sutton Hoo Treasures. I will admit that l didn't know of these treasures, nor the story behind their discovery.  It does take some liberties with the truth as later research proved, but, overall it was an interesting film. Ralph Fiennes plays Basil Brown and Carey Mulligan plays Edith Pretty. They both give strong performances, as do all the cast. The filming was done close to where the original discovery was made. If you're looking for an action packed film this is not for you. Dialogue is sparse in places and it is set in the years just before the war, 1938-1939; Basil rides a bicycle everywhere. If you like history, and, archaeology then it's worth a look, if only to see what was actually discovered in a few mounds in the ground.
