I've been listening to John Coltrane this week.   The saxophone is not my favourite instrument to listen to but Coltrane made it sing. I especially like the work he did with Miles Davis's Kind of Blue. He was gone by the age of 40 but, thankfully he made many recordings that we can still listen to today. 

I'm talking about galleries in Prahran, an inner city suburb in Melbourne. You can get there on the tram or via the Sandringham train. I counted 12 galleries in the suburb. I'm also talking about a few other galleries and bits and pieces. Melbourne is a city that loves the arts. All through the suburbs we have galleries, arts centres halls and even churches that are used for the arts. Love it!   singulart.com johnstoncollections.org

I've seen my first show in the 2025 season.  On Friday l travelled to the Frankston Arts Centre to see Australian tenor David Hobson. We are so lucky here in Melbourne.  Every suburban Arts Centre runs a Morning Melodies program.  Frankston runs theirs on a Friday with 2 performances at. 10.30 and 1.30. I always go to the 1.30 show. Over the years I've seen so many good shows and this one was such a good act to start the new season.  David Hobson has sung in operas, Gilbert and Sullivan and musical theatre. His voice is still going strong at 64. In the video l talk about the difference between David and Maria Callas. He sang a bit of everything and he was good. These Morning Melodies shows can be a real treat, and, if there's a suburban Arts Centre near you check them out. So the 2025 has kicked off with a great start and there are many good things ahead.  I went to the Aust Open tennis on Monday.  Along with the great tennis l saw l also the artist in residence, Bobbi Lockyer. Bobbi is a Ngarluma, Kariyarra, Nyulnyul and Yawuru woman based in Port Hedland. Port Hedland is in Northern West Australia which means she wasn't melting in the heat like the rest of us. Me being me l kindly asked Bobbi if l could take her photo and ask about her artwork. Here she is working on a piece that will be used on all the staircases and shirts at next year's tournament. I like Aboriginal artwork. It must take so much patience and skill. If you look at Bobbi's website you will see how skilled an artist she is and l can't wait to see this artwork next year.
