Can you paint like this?  A few weeks ago l had to go into an Arts Centre to buy some tickets.  While l was there l looked around their current exhibition. 9 by 5. So many paintings and all of them so good. If only l could paint like this. Yet another skill l don't have. I would love to go out into the countryside, set up an easel and paint what was in front of me. Alas, not to be.  Can you paint and draw? Let's start a conversation.

There are Vikings in Melbourne.  

On Friday l went to The Johnson Collection.  This is a private museum. It was an interesting collection all about regency gentlemen, like a taste of the Bridgerton world. Mr Johnson was an avid collector of items large and small from the 1700/18000 time period.  Every  day items that we were free to look at closely. This is an exhibition of a world of money and leisure.  While concentrating mainly on English items he also bought items from India and Venice from the same time period.  Lots of silver                                                           And china; lots of china.  This was like no other museum I've ever been to.  The Johnson Collection also has lectures and events. I'm talking about galleries in Prahran, an inner city suburb in Melbourne. You can get there on the tram or via the Sandringham train. I counted 12 galleries in the suburb. I'm also talking about a few other galleries and bits and pieces. Melbourne is a city that loves the arts. All through the suburbs we have galleries, arts centres halls and even churches that are used for the arts. Love it!   singulart.com johnstoncollections.org

My first VR experience.  Was it good? The world of The Titanic was recreated and, when we weren't bumping into each it was as if we were on the ship.  Have any of you gone to a VR exhibition?

 I went and saw an exhibition by Yayoi Kusama recently. This exhibition has been so popular and was coming to the end of it's run. I went on one of the final days and it was still crowded.  This is what l saw as soon as l entered the  door A personal message to my city. It put a smile on my face. This is a photo of the artist as a young child.  She grew up in Japan,  left and lived in America for a time before returning to live in Japan after her father died.  Can l say how much l liked her work. She uses a lot of dots along with very interesting art forms. She is also known for her collection of pumpkins. Just think of the patience needed for the piece below. It was an impressive body of work and l could have shown so many more photos.  There were also some short films too. The dots were a repeating pattern, but, l never tired of looking at them. Yayoi as she is today.  She is in her 90s now and I consider her a living treasure.    ...

This was like a surprise exhibition that l was not expecting.  I'm so glad l did see it. Small paintings by artists.  Also, l don't call myself an artist but l do show you my first attempt at painting.
