Do you still read books?

Image
Do you still read books? Statistics show that people aren't reading as many books as before.  I have to admit that l'm one of them. I listen to audiobooks mainly these days, and l listen regularly when l'm on public transport each day. What about you? Do you still read?

Listening to.....

Image
Listening to....  Edith Piaf. This music makes me think of Paris. Can you picture yourself sitting in a Cabaret listening to this music? She was called The Little Sparrow, standing only 5 feet tall. Her mother was a singer and left her to be raised by her Grandmother. She had a sad life but left us with wonderful music.

Cluedo - What a treat

An early birthday present.  Thank you Suzie for this gift. It was a hoot. I love the theatre; the buzz before the lights dim, the thrill of what is to come. So much better than seeing it on a small screen. The theatre was full and this was a funny play. I have played the game but don't really remember it. Perhaps you have too. Each actor played their part well and played well as a cast. It was a good day. Yum Cha for lunch, and l finally managed to sort of manage chop sticks, and then off to the theatre. What a treat.

Are you team Jane Eyre or team Wuthering Heights?

Image
Which team are you on?  I think the real tragedy of these books is that the sisters died so young. Who knows what other books could have been written. Although l have a preference for one novel both of them deserve their reputations. It would have been interesting to see them mature and keep writing. Emily Bronte was only 30 when she died, Charlotte 38. Emily led such a sheltered life and l do admire the imagination of Wuthering Heights.  Let's start a conversation.

Goblin Market

Can l suggest you grab a drink and make yourself comfortable.  Christina Rosetti was an English poet from a very artistic family. This is one of her best known poems and is studied at Universities. The beauty of this poem is that the meaning is unclear. I see sisterhood and a few other themes. Listen to the video, read the poem and let me know what you think it's about. Let's start a conversation.

Wuthering Heights

Stolen in Death

I wasn't going to buy this.  Kept walking past it in the bookshop. Couldn't resist it any longer so number 54 is next on the list to read. This is an author l dip in and out of. Do you do that with authors? At some stage Nora Roberts must run out of ideas. She started this series in 1995. Let me know if you like the J.D Robb series.

My 1st Indian poem

Image
My first poem from India  Sarojini Naidu 1879-1949.  I think India has a rich history of poetry and l'm only starting to dip my toe into it. If you have a poem that you would like me to read get in touch emilycat176@gmail.com

Do you know the history of the Russian Royal Family?  I never thought that a musical would be made of this, but, it was made and it's good. For those of you who don't know can l suggest that you google Anna Anderson. Let me know if any of you have seen this musical and how many of you love musical theatre like me.
