Do you have morning melodies at your local arts centres, or are we just lucky here in Melbourne.  It is a specific program of shows that mainly involve music. Frankston have 2 shows on a Friday. The Round has 1 show on on Wednesday. I've only seen shows at the Frankston Arts Centre and l have seen some really good shows including a live radio play show. That was very interesting and good. The State Theatre used to run a program but is closed for a 3 year renovation; we're only half way through year 2 and who knows if the program will return. It's a boon for any suburb because all the shows l've seen have had full audiences. Let me know if you have such a program where you live. Let's start a conversation.

I like crime novels. They are my favourite to read. Of course, theses days, when l say read l mean listen. I have bad hearing and have had hearing aides for years. Audible and Borrow Box are on my phone which is connected to my hearing aides and it is much easier to carry a phone rather than a book. Robert Galbraith books are so good. I personally think that J.K. Rowling is a very good writer.  So l have gone back to the start. Through Audible l have listened to The Cuckoo's Calling right through to Troubled Blood. I'm going to listen to all of them; Ink Black Heart is next. They should all be finished by the time the new novel comes out and l can't wait.  Who else is waiting for the new release? Towards the end of each month l'm going to talk about what's coming up in the following month. We are getting near the end of June so this post is about what's opening in July.  Hopefully you find something that interests you. I've covered many shows in all different suburbs of Melbourne.  There's so much to see; l would like to see all of it but don't have the time or money. That's okay as l still manage to see so much here in Melbourne. That's the beauty of sticking mainly to the suburbs. See you on Friday.

Shakespeare in the suburbs. This is my favourite Shakespeare play.   Do you like Macbeth? Do you like live Theatre? Malvern Theatre Company is based in Burke Road Malvern.  Another good community Theatre group we have here in Melbourne.  Let me know what your local arts scene is like. I hope you are all getting out and seeing shows in your local suburbs. 

I have my first poem by a Dutch poet today. I hope you are enjoying these poems as much as l am. I also like looking at poets from all the different countries, and centuries.  Fridays are for poems and books. Next week l will be talking about a book that now has a release date. Do you like jazz? On any given weekend here in Melbourne you can see jazz being played in cafes, bars, even bowling clubs. We even have some stand alone jazz clubs and this is what l'm talking about today. I also give details about the wonderful Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival.  It's a great weekend away over the Melbourne Cup long weekend. If you're interested tickets are on sale now, or, you may be interested in going to some of the clubs l mention. The arts thrive in Melbourne and l hope you are all getting out and enjoying them.  

I went over to Nunawading on the weekend to the wonderful Suburban Arts Centre called The Round. This is the newest Arts Centre built in Melbourne and it's so good.  I saw the Babirra Theatre Company perform My Fair Lady. What did l think of it? It was good. I had never seen the musical before, only the film: and l did think of Audrey Hepburn while l was watching this performance. I keep saying this but suburban arts in Melbourne are of the same standard as many of the big shows in the CBD. Hopefully this is the same for you where you live. Musical Theatre is my favourite and l loved the show l saw yesterday. I have seen several productions from this Theatre Company and will be seeing their next show in October. It's Grease. I've got more theatre coming up this weekend.  How lucky am l.

This is my first Russian poem. Russia has a such rich arts history.  Think of all the wonderful authors and composers over the years. I had never heard of this poet, but, l think he is well known in Russia. It's a longer poem but stay with it as there is real emotional intensity.  He was well known for this.  I hope you enjoy.   

I'm talking about theatres here in Melbourne this week. We have at least 61 theatres here so there's plenty to choose from.     Hope you see something good this week.

My first VR experience.  Was it good? The world of The Titanic was recreated and, when we weren't bumping into each it was as if we were on the ship.  Have any of you gone to a VR exhibition?

I finished one book and gave up on the other one.  Is it sacrilege to say l don't like this book. It's considered a classic but not for me.  Which one do you like.  patreon.com/Emilycat176
